We bought our house 4 years ago and when we did Alleah was an only child so I wish we thought about more kids = better layout. We don't want to move quite yet so I made it work. :)
Our house is big, but the master bedroom and 2nd bedroom is on the main floor. The 3rd bedroom is right by the stairs in our finished basement. The girls were in the 2nd bedroom for a a very long time & Liam was in our bedroom. I thought it was time to make a change. Even tho I hesitated alot moving them down there.
I bought a bunk bed online in October hoping I'd eventually get around putting it somewhere. I bought the bedding soon after and chose what colors their room will be. We plan on moving in a couple years so I wanted to make the walls neutral and not crazy. So I went with grey. Convinced my husband to help build the bunk bed & had fun decorating it. It kept me busy during this insane winter. The girls LOVE being together and love their bunk bed. I have a camera set up down there just in case. got all the smoke alarms checked. bought a fire extinguisher. When it comes to my kids my anxiety goes straight to 1000. I love that they have their own place down there but it took alot for me to send them down there with me up on the main level. Half the time Joey sleeps down in the family room as well. so that makes me feel better. It's been great.
Liam was moved into the girls old room. I didn't paint or anything. Bought new curtains for the windows and closet. New bedding. New shelves. Alot more simple. He has been doing AMAZING in there. wakes up once and it's usually at 5am and then goes right back to sleep. Takes really good naps in there (specially when the girls are playing down in their room).
Now that their rooms are done. We have new bathrooms. I've been slowly working on each room. I'd like to sell this house and buy a new one with a different layout in the next couple of years, but I love the school district... so we shall see.
