Birth Story:
May 17th I went to my regular OB check up to see how baby boy Perry was doing, at my 37 week apt I almost had to be induced at 38 weeks for low fluid, but a week later it was up again. On May 17th I was 38 weeks 4 days. I got an ultrasound and my fluid was low again. I was having pretty consistent contractions since May 15th, but never enough to be in actual labor. He then told me I would have to be induced he said "tomorrow" (May 18th).. I waited and waited for the hospital to call me with an open bed.. I was 1st on the list for the whole day, but nothing opened up. May 19th they then told me @ 7:50 to come in, in an hour (@ 9ish). Called my mom who called my dad to stay with the girls & my mom was going to check me into the hospital with me since Joey was still at work for a little bit. Called Joey who was at work but he wouldn't answer after maybe 15 times haha. I figured he wouldn't be able to come right away since he'd have to finish his route, but his boss let him leave. So Joey ended up picking me up & my mom met us at the hospital after my dad came to watch the girls.
I got all hooked up to an IV... btw... LOVED my nurse. She was awesome!! Anyway, she called my doctor to figure out what way I was going to be induced. Since I was already 3cm dilated they just put me on a low dose of pitocen. (First time ever getting pitocen) I was tested positive for the group b test so I also got my antibiotics thru my Iv at the same time. After I got settled my mom went and relieved my dad of girls duty & she stayed with them until my younger sister got off work at 2.
At first it was going pretty slow. I was 4cm when I decided to get the epidural.. the contractions were getting pretty strong thanks to the pitocen. After I got my epidural.. an hour later my doctor broke my water.
After a bit I was feeling extreme amount of pressure that the epidural didn't feel like working for that haha.. rude.
By this time my mom had come back & Joey of course was with me. My nurse sat me up and pushed the epidural button. Seconds earlier she checked and I was 5cm. Around 4pm I went super pale. Thought I was going to throw up.. everything sounded muffled. Baby's heartbeat dropped. My nurse pulled the emergency cord and Suddenly 8 nurses were in the room working on me. Repositioning me (I ended up on my hands and knees with am oxygen mask, checking monitors, attached a monitor to baby's head while he was inside me. Thankfully, baby's heartbeat got back to normal. And i started to feel better. I had jumped from 5 cm to 8 within seconds. That must of caused the trauma. They called my doctor who was at his office.. he was there within 5 mins... I was impressed haha. When all of that happened they had turned off the pitocen.
At about 5:10pm they turned it back on... I was still 8 cm. They even tried to tell me to push at 9 cm with everything that happened. At this point I was freaking out because I could feel soo much pressure and pain as if the epidural was barely working at all, but I'm sure if I didn't have it, it would've been worst... but it was bad. It hurt bad. I ended up being 10cm right before I did end up pushing anyway. (Thank goodness) even tho it was only 1 cm difference haha. I'll take what I can get.
At 5:34pm it was go time. I felt sooo much of it. I like to think of it as the movies cuz I felt like I was yelling with every push. Haha. Luckily it was 3 pushes (6 mins) and little Liam was born!! 5:40pm. 7lbs 5.4oz 20 1/4 in long. He's the biggest baby out of our 3 as well.
Overall it was 7 hours of labor. Out of my 3 labors his was the 2nd. Easier then alleahs.. Harder then Raylees. But I would go thru it again in a heart beat (I probably wouldn't say that at the time tho haha)
Liam is a week old now and such a chill easy baby. He wakes up every 2 hours or so at night. Hardly cries. And nurses like a champ.
His name why we chose it: Liam - Joey and I had a huge list of names that I made... maybe about 20 names. Read thru them all.. only 3 stuck out to Joey. Liam was the 1st name we actually agreed on.
Thomas - is the name of someone Joey looks up to as a father figure. Also, we thought that it was kind of cool it's like (L. Tom Perry) the apostle who is Joeys great uncle who also sealed us for time and all eternity almost 4 years ago.
The girls are so smitten by him. Raylee HAS to kiss him before bed every night. And loves to hold him. She's actually really good at helping (and getting in the way) She's my designated diaper throw awayer hahaha. Alleah of course is so excited. She's the best helper.
We are so lucky and so in love with our sweet little boy Liam. 😊💙
